Choosing Forgivingness: The Path to Spiritual and Physical Well-being

Pastor Ronald Simmons

October 5, 2025

Day 1: God's Sovereign Plan in Our Suffering

Reading: Genesis 50:15-21

Devotional: Joseph's story reminds us that God can use even our deepest pain for His greater purpose. Like Joseph, we may face betrayal, false accusations, or unfair treatment. Yet, God's sovereign hand is always at work, weaving our struggles into His grand tapestry of redemption. Today, reflect on a difficult situation in your life. How might God be using this for good? Pray for the strength to trust His plan, even when you can't see the full picture.

Day 2: The Power of Forgiveness

Reading: Matthew 6:9-15

Devotional: Jesus teaches us that forgiveness is not optional for His followers—it's essential. Our own forgiveness is intimately tied to our willingness to forgive others. This can be challenging, especially when the hurt runs deep. Consider someone you need to forgive. How might holding onto this grudge be affecting your spiritual life? Ask God for the grace to forgive, remembering the immense forgiveness He has extended to you through Christ.

Day 3: Embracing God's Calling Despite Opposition

Reading: Numbers 12:1-16

Devotional: Moses faced opposition from those closest to him, yet he remained faithful to God's calling. Sometimes, the greatest challenges to our faith and purpose come from unexpected sources. Have you ever felt undermined in your God-given role? Remember, like Moses, your authority comes from God. Pray for humility and strength to continue in your calling, and for the grace to respond to critics with love and forgiveness.

Day 4: Finding Strength in God's Presence

Reading: Psalm 23

Devotional: David, who faced numerous trials, found his strength in God's constant presence. Even in the "valley of the shadow of death," he feared no evil because God was with him. What valleys are you walking through right now? How can you become more aware of God's presence in your daily life? Take time to sit quietly and invite God's peace into your current circumstances, trusting that He is guiding you.

Day 5: Radical Love in the Face of Persecution

Reading: Acts 7:54-60

Devotional: Stephen's response to his persecutors exemplifies Christ-like love in its purest form. In his final moments, he prayed for those who were killing him. This level of forgiveness and love is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. Reflect on a time when you've been hurt or persecuted. How can you extend love to those who have wronged you? Ask God to fill you with His supernatural love, enabling you to forgive as Christ forgave.
