OUR STORY

Discover the journey, vision, and values that continue to guide our church today

Strong Tower Christian Church (STCC) was founded by Pastor Darren Gerald and his wife, Pastor Angie Gerald, after God stirred their hearts to create a diverse, non-denominational congregation rooted in faith and community. Since its beginning, STCC has remained committed to serving both locally and globally—launching community outreach initiatives in 2008, including support for foster families and disaster relief efforts in Dominica.

As the church continued to grow, it embraced a vision in 2012 of becoming a “Church Without Walls,” focused on breaking down barriers that separate people from God and one another. In 2010, STCC expanded its global impact by supporting more than 50 children through Compassion International, and by 2015, the church deepened its presence in Frederick County through authentic discipleship and community-centered projects.

 

Today, Strong Tower continues to thrive as a multicultural, multi-generational church, committed to spreading hope, purpose, and transformation through Christ-centered living.

Vision

We are a caring community of believers committed to allowing God to change our lives, change lives around us, impact the church and make a difference in the world. 

Beliefs

  1. We believe that the Bible is the divinely preserved and inspired word of God.

  2. We believe that God is eternally and simultaneously both one and three: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  3. We believe that Jesus Christ was, in the flesh, both God and man, that he died for our sins, and that he rose from the dead.

  4. We believe that every person has worth as a creation of God, but all have sinned and fall short of God’s perfection, making union with God by human effort impossible.

  5. We believe that forgiveness of sin and the promise of eternal life are available to all people who will accept the free gift of God’s grace through Jesus Christ.

  6. We believe that those trusting in Christ as Lord and Savior should repent of their sins, confess their faith, and be baptized into the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  7. We believe that the church is the community of God and the body of Christ on earth and exists to reach those who are far from Christ and to disciple believers.

  8. We believe in the hope and reality of Jesus Christ’s return.

What does "Church Without Walls" mean?

At Strong Tower, being a Church Without Walls means that our faith goes beyond the building. We believe the church is not confined to a location, but lives through the people who follow Jesus. This vision calls us to break down barriers that separate people from God and one another, and to live out our faith in everyday life.

 

Through worship, service, outreach, and authentic relationships, we seek to reflect Christ’s love in our community and around the world—meeting people where they are and bringing hope, healing, and purpose wherever God leads us.
